Great educational and fun toy. Ernie's Alphabet Notepad.
Here are the different modes of play:

- Letter Mode: The first time you press a letter Ernie says the letter and the name of an object that begins with the letter. For example: D like Dinosaur. The second time you press the same letter Ernie says what sound the letter makes. The third time you press that letter Ernie says the object again, but this time there is a cute animation and sound.

- Letter Search Mode: Ernie asks you to find a specific letter. He also flashes that letter on the screen briefly. If you pick wrong, he tells you the name of the letter you actually picked and then gives you a hint, such as the letter is in between letters F and H. If you pick right he gives the child some nice praise.

- Music Mode: When you turn on music mode, Ernie first sings the alphabet song. After that, any letter you press will play a different instrumental song. The songs vary in length from 10 seconds all the way to 30 seconds.

This is a great tool for toddlers beginning to draw. This is the perfect toy for keeping a child occupied on car trips. They can draw and erase over and over.  This toy saves us from all the messiness of crayons, papers,etc. She also likes to carry it with her while traveling and uses it even while seated on a car seat for long distance travels! It is reasonably priced and is pretty durable.

Leapfrog's LeapsterGS is a big improvement over previous Leapster models.

1. The LeapsterGS has a much better display. You don't realize it until you compare it side-by-side with a previous generation Leapster. The screen is about 20% larger (3.5" diag), and has much better resolution and color.

2. LeapsterGS is much faster. You really notice a reduction in the screen-to-screen lag time, boot ups, shut downs, etc.

3. LeapsterGS is much more compact. It is a little bit longer than a Leapster 2, but half as thick, and 1 inch shorter.

4. The sound on the LeapsterGS is much better.

5. Battery compartment access no longer requires a screwdriver like previous models did. Battery life is also slightly better.

6. LeapsterGS includes a camera that takes pictures and video. Earlier versions of Leapster do not.

7. LeapsterGS uses LeapFrog Connect to download games over the internet. More on this feature later.

The Melissa & Doug coloring pads have nice thick high-quality paper, so they work with markers as well as crayons or pencils. While somewhat gendered (dinosaurs and trucks on the blue pad, princesses & fairies on the pink pad), they at least don't label them by gender explicitly. Good-quality artwork that can be colored in lots of different ways.

These tablets are beautiful in the tub. The tablets come in big & small with blue, red & yellow tablets. The color combos you can make are fun, you can make the bath water any color you and your child want. It teaches them about primary colors and secondary colors (if you are willing to make this a lesson). They are a great price and are easy to use.
